And thus another one joins the wonderful world of romance novels! Where happy ever afters are a guarantee, the sex is steamy and the love is true. We just need more LGBTQ stories. Many, many more!!
I read the book and always planned to watch the movie. I was expecting Hallmark but after reading your IG post, I thought we were getting another Call Me By Your Name so I rushed to watch. It ended up being Hallmark with gay sex, which I’m here for! The supporting women were my highlight (except Uma’s twangy Julia Sugarbaker accent and Rachel’s wig) and my favorite scene was Henry’s reaction while on the dock. I thought Nicholas was a good casting, Taylor could’ve been interchangeable with any pretty faced actor. I’m always of the mind that gay pairings on screen can benefit from at least one of the actors being openly gay. Obviously it adds authenticity, plus it helps us get away from the idea that masculinity and straightness is the ultimate goal and fantasy. This did not change my mind like, say, CMBYN. I was actually happy that the actors couldn’t do a big press tour. It helped me separate the characters from them. Over all I thoroughly enjoyed the movie for what it is. I just think expectations need to be managed.
I agree—perfect addition to the romcom genre and the leads were fantastic. Our brains are not broken everyone just lacks understanding of genre!!!!
