I hope that we will all be hate watching together!

I thought Seema was great, Lisa underdeveloped and Nya even more underdeveloped than Lisa. When Nya was like "my husband and I are separating and I thought you would be there for me" and Miranda was all "I'm blowing off the internship you got me and am off to hang around my girlfriend's set in LA, see ya!" I couldn't help but wonder if we were supposed to care about Nya or not, since Miranda obviously didn't. I think that was the saddest moment of the series, after the shock of Big's death.

Anyway, good times!

As a 50 yo woman, I understand why Carrie as we know her has to be reminded to step her pussy up. However, I completely agree that if reintroducing Aidan was a must, they could have kept it a secret for more impact. Either way, I would have rather seen Carrie find herself again by dating her way through the NYC salt and pepper scene.

I agree. What I think about is that when we were all cooped up during the lockdown and SJP announced the reboot, everyone in the comments was very much “yes girl, bring it! We love this! Give us more! Inclusivity? Yes!!” And when it was rolled out, and we were all able to roam about the cabin freely, it was like the audience started acting like stockholders in the show, to paraphrase a friend in the music business. They/We (we all did it) critiqued the shiz out of it like a post-broadcast focus group. Incredibly, we forgot the essence of where we were when it was written: in the middle of a pandemic lockdown along with the social upheaval. Not to mention seriously taking down huge patriarchal/social systems. We have short term memory. Maybe it’s the legal weed, maybe it’s Maybelline.

My feelings towards the show shifted a bit while watching the accompanying documentary. It’s like Bushnell said, the show became about the melding of iconic characters and the actors playing them and less about the OG four. Why didn’t they bring in Dana Wheeler to fill the Samantha void? That totally would have felt right. I’m sure they they covered all the bases when they were in the writer’s room, but for me, there was a big disconnect. And yes I know it’s about fashion and the behind the scenes served that, but to spend THAT much time with SJP, CN, KD, themselves, I felt was not needed. All that did was remind me that Kim Catrall wasn’t part of it. Plus, Big… I was really hoping for some semblance of their life as a married couple for whatever silly reason. Lol.

In spite of all that, I will still watch because I still can’t quit the characters and show, and like real life, sometimes our relationships downshift a little bit to surface vibes. (honestly? sometimes that’s enough.) Maybe season three will bring it all home. We all deserve a second and third chance. Don’t we? Well maybe not *all* of us, but I digress…lol. Thanks for reading, Evan and THANK YOU for everything you brought to my life when we were all cooped up! #coolidgeforever #heyevan
