We Need Lexi Featherston on 'And Just Like That'
I know she’s dead but so is Matthew Lillard’s Stu and he’s coming back for ‘Scream 7’, goddammit!
I know Sex and the City contains many iconic side characters (Bunny MacDougal, Bitsy von Muffling, Enid Frick) and one-off appearances (Amalita Amalfi, Susan Sharon, Maria Diega Reyes), but I think it’s fair to say that none hold a candle to the iconic Lexi Featherston, a character played by actress Kristen Johnston and both introduced and killed off in the penultimate episode of the series.
While the show had lightly touched on death (Javier in Season 2, Miranda’s mom in Season 4), never had we seen (nor could we have anticipated witnessing) a character quite literally fall to her death before our very eyes. And while some might call it the second-most famous death in the Sex and the City universe after Big’s death in the series premiere of And Just Like That, death by Peloton simply doesn’t hold a candle to death by drunkenly falling out of a window. In fact, when I recently posted a tribute to Lexi on my Instagram, Johnston commented, writing:
“Lexi will go on my tombstone & I’m not mad about it.”
I thought it would be as appropriate a time as any to examine the lore of Lexi and why she’s needed on And Just Like That. Let’s explore.
