That’s how many tweets I’d spat out since joining Twitter in July 2011. 13 years spent thinking (at various degrees of seriousness) that every fleeting thought I had should be captured and dispersed to thousands of strangers. Looking back at it now, I see Twitter in three phases: The Age Of Innocence (2006-2015), The Age of Enlightenment (2016-2021), The Dark Ages (2022-Present). During phase one, Twitter was both a thought depository and a town square. It also played a critical role in eroding the middle space between famous folks and non-celebrities. Back in those days, celebrities tweeted with the same kind of abandon and thoughtlessness as we did.
But then came Enlightenment.
